Grizzly encounters while elk hunting

I just think of it this way....whats the chances of actually being attacked by a grizzly.....? So what are the chances of actually being attacked TWICE....lol

You might want to reconsider and think of it THIS WAY

If you are spending time in Griz country every year...your odds go up whether you have been previously munched on or not.

Same goes for a lightning strike, if you are hunting above timberline...you can't use the national average for lightning strikes for your odds.

Its only the guys sitting on their couch that lower their odds- grin

About 30 minutes before first light I was sneaking into an ambush spot that elk like to travel just after dawn. I was moving down a finger with the wind at my back and was loudly growled at. It sounded just like a growling bear in the movies. It left, I stayed put until light and moved a different direction.
This was an area about 10 miles from Yellowstone Park. I have seen 1 other large grizzly that was moving away from us and a guy was mauled 2 years ago.
