Grits - the other breakfast cereal

What the heck are grits and Grillades?!?!?

It's a Cajun dish of thin cut beef or pork steaks smothered (slow-braised) in a rich brown gravy with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and served over *real* grits.

Growing up in south Louisiana and loving to cook & eat has been the biggest barrier to my mountain fitness :p

I’m all about trying it!!! Recipe?

I grew up in FL and LOVE grits, especially real ones prepared accordingly.

I didn't think any self respecting southerner ate INSTANT grits??? At least that's what they said in "My Cousin Vinny" ;)

Since I'm not a southerner though, I'll be adding this to my backpacking breakfast ideas! Sounds like a welcome change from the usual oatmeal. Not sure why I didn't think of it before? Thanks for posting.
As a southerner and big fan of that movie, I think of that line every time I'm at store to grab grits. But I'm getting closer to caving in to the quick and easy.

Asian market dried tiny shrimp goes great in instant grits with parm and butter.

Costco had truffle parmesan that is next level...
