Grit in focus wheel (Swarovski SLC)

Hello, I just bought a pair of pre owned SLC 15x56 through Outdoorsman’s. Super happy with my purchase as the binos are in excellent condition and the guys at Outdoorsman’s were very helpful. However there is some grit under the focus wheel that is a concern. I pulled back the wheel to expose the diopter and cleaned it best I could, but the grit still remains and is wearing on the numbers for the diopter. Is there a way to get in there and clean it out better? Would hate to have to send them In to Swaro already.

When in doubt send it to Swarovski for a full refurb that will cost $100 or less. Just plan for it to take 2 months or so.

As said above send them in and do it now. I just got my ELs back last Friday May 29th. I sent them in April 7th. I had something on one of the ocular lenses and there was grit like hell in the eyecups so they got super rough spinning in and out. I bought these new so they cleaned them up for free but as said above, you are going to be about 2 months. Send them now so you will have them back for the fall.

They will come back to you looking brand new. It's worth it. Brandy new looking factory cleaned Swaros are something else.

probably sand stuck on the grease. Will need complete removable of the focus knob.
