We have a mix of greys and foxes with greys being the predominant color. I've always preferred the greys. The standard was squirrels and gravy.

recipe for squirrel bog?We used to fry them growing up in Appalachia. Save the heads for older neighbor lady...she like the brains scrambled with eggs.
Down here we have a bunch of the big black and white fox squirrels so Squirrel Bog is more popular way to prepare them.
If you have a mess of yearlings fry them. They rest go into bog.

Grey's 100%Smoke them whole at 225 for about an hour with your favorite barbecue rub. Wrap in foil with a healthy pat of butter for about another hour. Remove the bones and add your favorite barbecue sauce. You’d be hard pressed to tell the difference in pulled pork and squirrel if you do it right, especially once the bun, cole slaw, and pickles enter the equation.
