Greenland - Yes or No? Where are the "we need more public land" people?

Should the USA add Greenland to its public land/water portfolio?

  • Yes

  • No

  • I am not sure.

@Poser thanks, I didn't know that.

However, if we are talking FACTS, and well at least I am, the quote was "military or economic" pressure. Unfair for those previously who omitted the "or economic" part, as it wholly changes the premise and the conversation.

I'm gonna bow out with my silly desire for truth and facts and go back to chasing scammers.

So we're on the same page.

The facts on the topic are almost non existent. And I like facts.

So you see my interest and amusement in the discussion. Lol (I'm currently a little bored.)

Please make me aware of when and who stated the US would "invade"?

This is the type of conjecture that muddies (and in some cases, derails and ruins) a conversation.
Definitely not intending to derail a thread. If the intent of the thread was yes/no that's fine. Im not here to push anything. You're correct, Nobody stated it exactly, but it has tremendous geopolitical importance. If Roksliders say yes, then the question is naturally going to lead to " but is it for sale?' and then "How". So, Greenland wanting independence from Denmark doesn't lead to they would then want to sell to the US. At least for me. Greenland is strategic for Denmark as well, so what incentive would they have to sell to the US? So neither would be likely to give up the leverage of land and resources without an extremely favorable agreement that advantaged themselves. Maybe invasion is too strong of word, but it's a good question to ask how serious the POTUS is about acquiring greenland's resources given those parameters. How does that muddy the conversation? Not being argumentative just asking for clarity from others.

I'm glad we agree with me.

Did you invest in, and now are losing money on, factcheck.org, or something similar?
If only I had the forethought to get heavily into fact checking back a decade ago - so much money I’d be buying Sako rifles by the dozen and handing them out like candy. Heck, I’d give you one.

I think folks are a lot like Ren before he was properly diagnosed.

All good man. My opinion is not worth more than yours, or anyone's. I just wanted to selfishly point out how and why so many threads on here go to hell in a handbasket-and from my perspective, it has a lot to do with abandoning facts, adding in feelings or opinion under the original premise, which is then taken as fact. Huge difference. Very quickly "military or economic pressure" became "invasion".

Thank you for the detailed explanation-very well said.

Military pressure could mean not inviting a country to a training exercise. I was part of a cadre years back training Ukranians. It was a HUGE deal for their country, military, economy etc. Being left out has great financial ramifications alone.

It's not too late (and you did reply to my first version of that post, including the errant "we" - but I argue with myself frequently). And when you score your windfall, I do like my Sako, and would welcome another, but a Blaser would be sweet too. Thanks in advance.

I haven't viewed the Ren video yet (on a work call and multi-tasking), but when I hear "Ren" I always think of this:

I find it interesting that so many people seemingly learned the word Oligarch overnight. A few years ago these same “Oligarchs” were previously known as visionaries and were gonna change the world. I wonder what happened recently that they are now so universally hated by mainstream media.

Equally interesting is the sudden disdain for conflict. When we are pouring money into ACTUAL proxy wars on multiple fronts no one bats an eye.

But the discussion of getting Greenland into the fold for security and resources has somehow turned in westward expansionism (which btw hasn’t happened in like a century) or even more ridiculous mention of invasion. Which any sane person knows isn’t on the table.

So I’ll leave you with this-
Yes if we can come to an agreement with Greenland to add them into our fold that would be incredible on many fronts. Makes a ton of sense.
