Gray Ops or Hawkins - DBM and Mags

Building a switch barrel set up on a short action. Will be running SA standard and SA magnum out of a Defiance Anti X with Guarding / AW cut. Manners m5 with mini chassis if that matters. Build intention is a hunting rig but may run ACIS or AW Mags when not hunting, summer training.

Looking at Hawkins Hunter DBM with Hunter Mags vs Gray Ops Precision Hunter DBM and Precision Hunter mags.

Any advice or recommendations on how the Hawkins or Gray Op’s may compare? Pros and Cons of either?

I have read that the Hawkins “rattle” a bit when not loaded up. I have also read the Gray Ops have a rubber dampeners to reduce rattle. Any experience with this?

All the grayops short action standard bolt face mags are extended, 2.980 internal for long bullets, longer cases. The hawkins are switching to that same spec, but def confirm prior to ordering as some old stock will still be the shorter oal internal, just keep that in mind. I've had good luck with both brand mags and bottom metal. The push button gray ops with the adjustable mag latch is nice, especially if using aw based mags.

Hawkins started putting rubber ‘tits’ on the hunter mags last year to keep the rattle away. I did that myself a couple of years ago with a piece of a high temp plug I use when cerakoting. Just drill a little hole and glue it in. I would not hesitate to use either brand, both are gtg.

Yes, I have an AW cut defiance lightweight classic. Aw mags run like a champ.

Also the grayops hunter mags have the rubber tits on them to make them not rattle when empty like the new hawkins stuff.
