I’m from Oklahoma also, two years ago I had them so bad it was like those pictures. They killed three apple trees I had. So far this year they aren’t too bad at least yet.
If you have vinyl screens on your house, keep an eye on the buggers. Last bad round of 'hoppers we had around here destroyed the screens on all our first floor windows and storm door.
I have heard that some of the large grasshoppers aren't eaten by wild things - we get these little black hoppers with red or yellow stripes and they grow into these monstrous hoppers.
If I was OP I'd spray them. And go looking for more to spray. Try to eradicate them.
I agree with the others that said go fishing. We had a cicada outbreak a few years ago and they were like candy to bass. non-stop action with them breaking water to get them.
