I rarely hunt more than a mile from my truck, many times less.

The pack out was 600 feet.
To the tailgate.
On Colorado OTC public land.

Haha, gotta love that. My dad's hunting buddy shot one while eating his lunch back at camp one year after they spent all morning traipsing around the woods. My dad heard the shot, got back and saw a half-eaten sammich and finally found him a couple hundred yards off cleaning an elk.

Although being that close isn't always a shoe-in as one year we went back up 4th season (Jan) cause we hadn't filled and even though it was only 100 yards from the truck it took us almost all morning to get it those 100 yards in waist-deep snow.

so not quite a 12 mile pack out?:) Gotta love it...I'll take close and easy any day...

That is awesome! Man some guys have all the luck! we put on many miles this last week only to hear about a guy who shot a 5x5 while sitting in his camp chair!!! if you are on here... I hate you :) jk I'm just jealous! congrats again!
