Well I got that itch for a new bow, and going to shoot a few different bows tomorrow. Just curious what most of you guys are shooting. I am really anxious to shoot an elite. Anyone have good or bad things to say about elite? What about any other brand they have had before?

Had a Hoyt carbon element and now have an Elite Hunter. The only negatives for me are the heavier weight and its slightly slower. I am shooting much better 3D scores this summer compared to last year with the Hoyt but hard to say how much the bow had to do with it.

I bought the Energy 32 a month or so ago. The bow is a sweet shooter. I haven't decided if I am taking it or my Heli-M up the mountain though. The only negative to me is it's quite a bit heavier then my Heli. I've been shooting lights out with it, maybe be a hard decision.

I bought my Prime Alloy in May. I shot the Hoyt Carbon Spyder, Mathews Chill R, Monster, and Creed, Elite Energy 32, and the Prime Defy, Impact, and Alloy. I liked the Elite and it was next in line to the Primes but the Alloy had a better back wall and feel in the hand for me over the Elite. The draw cycle felt similar, but maybe a little smoother on the Elite.

Try to shoot one of the new Obsession bows if you can. I shot one a few weeks back and was extremely impressed. They are fast and completely dead in the hand, feel great, with a thin grip much like Elites. I was not expecting that sweet of a shooter from a new company

I would highly recommend the Obsessions. I really like my new Phoenix.

Looks like I will be looking for an Obsession dealer in the morning. I can't wait to shoot one of these elites for some reason.

Shoot all the rest of them first if you just wanna shorot a bunch a bows. Because Once you shoot the new elite you won't need to keep looking

Shoot the Elites at whatever longer distance you can, the Elite grip doesn't match up well with everyone. Some people shoot them great, others have flyers because of inconsistencies getting on the grip. They're smooth but really slow compared to other bows in that price range and noticeably heavier. Shoot as many bows as you can and let the bow pick you. Worst thing you can do is to go into with a preconceived notion of which one is "the one". I'm not a Mathews guy at all but their new Chill X has been getting great feedback. Prime Alloy, DNA SP, Source, Spyder etc etc are all good bows as well. Good luck with whatever you pick.

Shot the energy 35 and Prime Alloy. Bought the Alloy.. Faster, more tech doodads(sorry tech geek) and a little bit(just a little) more dead in hand.

How long have the Obsession's been around? There is a dealer close to me, so I will be shooting one today I think. (Time Permitting)
I believe three years sin the bow business. The owner has been in the outdoor and whitetail hunting industry for a very long time though. I became a dealer for them a few months ago and can tell you they are great to deal with.

Time to breathe some life into this thread. I just got home from a bow shop and shot a hoyt, a Mathews Creed and Mathews Chill, an elite energy 32&35. I shot all of them time and time again and the elite bows are amazing. I have to be the first guy on this forum to say I agree with littlebuf. After shooting the elite 32, I knew that was it. I was just dumbfounded at how good it felt.

Now it's time for the accessories. Anybody recommend anything in particular as far as sights, rests, etc.

I've been a happy Hoyt shooter for 20 years. I love the 30" ATA bows like the spyder or carbon spyder. I have been really happy with Hoyt customer service as well, but a lot of that comes down to the shop you buy it from. This is my 2014 setup.

However, I think all the top companies these days make a good bow. Hoyt, Matthew, Elite, Strother, Obsession, PSE, Prime. Take your pick, they all have good choices.

Spot Hogg sight. Either a Tommy Hogg or Hogg Father. If you've never had a slider, I'd reccomed getting the Tommy Hogg with a 3 or 5 pin head to start with, it lets you use the sight as a more "traditional" multi-pin sight while you learn to play with the freestyle ability.

QAD HDx Ultrarest, is my favorite rest.
