Just got a new Slangvel made boonie hat today. I love it! I got the Kryptek Nomad pattern, with ventilation band, chin strap, and also with a larger 2" brim for more sun protection, and adjustable from 7 5/8-8". Finally a hat to fit my big noggin!

You can find him on Facebook. I heard about him here on Rokslide. He's a great guy and makes a great product.

Yeah, he does sell directly on FB. Just type in Slangvel and his business page comes up. You can see his work in the Photo section. He also has an Ebay store. And his email address is [email protected] He has the most pics of different styles on his Facebook page. His name is David Frantz

How does the brim hold it's shape? Oftentimes when glassing first/last light I'll tilt my ballcap to one side of my face or the other to keep the sun out of my optics...

and if we HATE facebook? :)

Ditto with that!

Randy

Quick not so funny story about FB----we had a large fire here near Carey last week and when you went to the Sheriffs website for fire updates---you know what it says? "Check the Blaine County Sheriffs Facebook page for the Preacher fire update." Well, I for one, don't have facebook nor will I ever. Interesting that the government relies on it.

Pretty much like every other boonie I've had. It is rather flexible--not as firm as a ball cap. It generally comes with the 1 3/4" brim, but I got a larger one for the extra shade over my ears and neck. He can make just about anything you can imagine, though.

I use to sew a button or toggle to the upper part of a hat, in several places around it, then a loop of cord or cut a slit in the brim. Fold the brim up and attach it to the button or toggle and it will hold in place.

I have also ran a heavy gauge wire through the edge of the brim to hold the shape and bend it how I wanted it.
