I want to start filming my hunts and adventures. What would make a camera a better option than a GoPro?

The advantage of the Go Pro is it's small and can be mounted on your gun, head, arm, etc. That's where it ends. The cameras on the market today all have bigger sensors so the image quality will be MUCH better with a camera

Thank you. Is there a good option around $1k that is weather resistant and easy to learn how to use?

I also personally use a go pro to film during hunts. I can’t justify the movability of a big camera during a backpacking trip!
