I went to the local Mexican restaurant a few weeks ago and asked the waitress for a shot of good tequila, hoping to try something new, maybe at the bartender’s recommendation. She brought me Jose Cuervo Silver.

Hornitos Reposado has been my go to for the last 15 years, it is inexpensive, super smooth and does not have a rot gut morning after effect.

I like shots and sipping but lately I have been drinking PVT's, pineapple juice with a splash of vanilla and a healthy dose of tequila, I want one right now but it's a little early in the day. If you have never had a PVT you owe it to yourself to try one, they are so good!

Give Salts Tequila a try. It is a flavored tequila comes in berry/chocolate/citrus. I am a huge fan of the citrus but you can sip on any of them. Delish.

Maestro Dobel Diamante is a great budget sipping tequila. It's a blend of reposado, anejo and extra anejo which is then filtered so that it is clear like a silver. Just drink it straight up,

Got a bottle from coworker years ago that was the best I have had. Chrome or silver bottle with a donkey with a rooster on his back. Guy that gave it to me can’t remember the name or where he got it. They bring me back a taste mezcal to.

Bought a bottle of the casa noble anejo and the Don Julio 70 today. Sipping the Julio 70 right now and it pretty good. I think it’s just as good as the 1942, but not near as good as the herradura legend...that continues to be the bar of excellence for me.

That Herradura is hard to beat in my opinion, though it is a tequila drinker's tequila. I like most of the Don Julio offering as well but I think they might be just a bit overpriced.

I mostly drink Cuervo Traditional. If you can get past the Cuervo label, it is a really good tequila for a really good price.

I haven't had a shot of tequila in a decade or more. I bought my wife one of the silicon ice cube kits that makes clear, round ice a year or two ago for Christmas. She was surprised and wanted to know why I would buy her that. I told her as she was such a great wife I knew she would like to be able to fix me a better drink. She has been able to hide her enthusiasm really well. It was one of the best gifts I've gotten her.

I find myself the proud owner of some Casa Noble now thanks to this thread. They have a three pack with the silver, Añejo and Reposado. Figured it would be a good way to get my feet wet.

Get a tall flute glass and taste them like you would a cognac. Put a small amount in the glass, swirl it around a bit to open it up and get some air in there, put your nose in and get a bit of a smell, take a small sip and let it run around your mouth to hit all the taste receptors, open your lips and breathe in through your mouth, finally put it down the hatch.

With good tequilas you will pick up caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, and other flavors.

Drinking good tequilas is like drinking any other fine whiskey, bourbon, cognac or whatever else. No salt, no lime or any other bull shit.

Has anyone tried Ron Whites tequila? Supposedly it’s been winning all kinds of awards and tequila competitions. It’s called Number Juan Tequila. I haven’t tried it but I’ve heard a bunch of good things about it

I just got back from a week in Cabo and drank a fair amount of Don Julio reposado. I hadn’t drank tequila in years but must say that was some good stuff. I’ll probably pick up a bottle of 42 this week to try.

I'm a fan of don julio but can be tough to find sometimes. Hornitos is a good tequila for a cheap price as well

You have likely never had really good tequila my friend. In college I thought I hated it because all I ever had was the rot gut crap like Curevo. There is some very good stuff out there.
Curevo, we always thought that was the good stuff back in the 90's. Now rot gut crap was Pepe Lopez!
