Don't underestimate how stupid the government in California is...just turn on any news station & their finest people are standing up there with their teeth falling out & lying to everyone willing to listen. They probably don't want to raise anyone's standard of living willing to pick up roadkill. It probably also infringes on a government employees rights in some way...probably afraid of a lawsuit...

First off, I was born and raised in CA. I have watched as it has turned from a great place into the mess it is now. I also have salvaged a road kill elk(nice five point bull) that a buddy’s GF hit. Totaled her car but fed me for a good amount of time. The politicians and bureaucrats in CA are so bad they could break a ball bearing. They love to regulate everything and make everything way harder than they need to. The DFW could just as easily said go ahead and salvage the meat and implement a reporting program and tweak it as they go but NO, they love that word, no. Hell they had to change their name because it had the word “game” in it. They are basically against hunting and harvesting “game”.

Let's not forget the previous commissioner was forced out because he went on a lion hunt in Idaho, which didn't follow again, with the "values" of California. That and because the dumb f&$k voters of CA outlawed lion hunting here, the idiots felt the commissioner should follow suit outside CA. Read this and you'll see why the new commissioner was appointed, and backed by PETA.

In case you missed it, the Commissioner of the California Department of Fish and Game, Daniel Richards, just returned from a hunting trip to Idaho where he paid $7000 so he could participate in a canned hunt so he could kill a mountain lion, brag about it, and eat it.
