Going to buy my wife a deer/elk gun. What would you go with?

What gun would you go with. Definitely doesn’t need to be the most expensive thing out there. Just something nice and practical.

Weatherby Camilla 7mm-08
Browning X-Bolt Micro Composite 7mm-08

or .308… or 6.5 creed… or 6mm creed… or .243

Just buy “her” whatever it is “you” want for yourself and call it “her” gun. That way when she’s not interested you will have another gun.

Isn’t that how most of these “wife” and “kid” gun threads and situations go?

This is great advice. Until it backfires. Currently sitting in my safe is a howa mini 6mm arc with a really nice nx8 scope on it. Every time I reach for it she asks where I’m going with her rifle.

I have a 6ARC Howa Mini that is going hunting with me next week. It is the "family" gun because it fits everyone and has no recoil with a suppressor on it.

If OP can find one, he should consider a Kimber Hunter in 6.5 CM or 308 (I have never seen a 7-08, but if they make one 👍). I find that light easy-to-handle guns are a good choice for people provided you don't give them a 6lb magnum.

Tikka sells a 20” 243 1:8 twist with a threaded muzzle. Grab some 90 eldx or 95 NBT and you’ll be set. It’s a very light shooting rifle and you can always modify later when she’s not using it.

This is what I did. Simple, easy to feed, easy for her to shoot well. OG 6.5, the new UM 6mm suppressor, or other to keep it light.

Yeah I’d definitely put a 6oz suppressor on - whether the new triple 6 or the airlock 6.5 (or wait for their 6mm version). A Swfa fixed 6 or 10 or a 3-9 and you’ve got a rifle anyone can use and shoot well
