Sounds like they are upping the game. This is interesting and worth the 10 minutes to watch as they show the difference in how they calculate odds vs. others leaders in the industry. Curious to see how this develops over the next few seasons

I've lost sleep over looking at preference points and draw odds in the last three years.

I even built my own spreadsheets and models. But those Random guys with 18 points that come out of of nowhere to get a tag that normally requires 5 points really throws a curve ball into the solution.

I'm not going to buy their stuff this year but in a couple years I'm definitely going to have enough points for about 10 hunts out there that I will be interested to see the reviews on guys who have been using it.

What they really need to know is what people in what states have what points. THAT, would be an interesting piece of information to add into this mix. Perhaps they have access to that data. Im not sure.

Hi MallarSX2
on your last point, you can get those numbers on who has how many points. I've seen it for many of the states in various places. Can't remember if goHunt publishes is but it's out there and public information in most states. I know I've seen it for AZ and Colorado for sure.

Robby,

Unfortunately I got in late into the points game. Just started a couple years ago. I accept the fact that I will never get into one of those unicorn units but hopefully I will have the opportunity every 5 years to hunt a decent unit. Thats my goal. Planning to hunt the same unit every 5 years it tough though due to point creep. I did smile at what Utah did though. That should put me in the running to hunt some of the better units.

Thanks for the information. I will look into that!

Yes it's hard to have a 5 year plan because things change but the good news is as you learn more country, go on more hunts, you'll realize that good hunting can be had more often than 5 years.

Basically in 3 years I will be looking at a 5 pt caliber hunt every year. I guess that was my methodology.

Some of the best deer are killed in places that require 0 points.

I burned 5 points on my Colorado muzzleloader this season and never cocked the hammer.... that was an eye opener for sure. I hunted hard too. Just because they require 5 points doesn't mean there is going to be opportunity. Thats a fact.

I'm off topic. Sorry
