For me, research for next season starts now (and even earlier). I've found that the more I know, the better decisions I can make about where to spend my hunting time.
goHunt.com has two portions to their site, the free part with great articles and tips on all-things hunting, and their "Insider" which is the research portion of their site. I think it's a good investment for the serious DIY hunter.
They just added Oregon to the Insider. goHunt covers all hunting stats, area recommendations, and a lot more for Mule Deer, both Colombian Blacktail and Whitetail, Whitetail, Elk, Roosevelt Elk, Antelope, California and Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, and Rocky Mountain Goat.
In a few minutes, using their filters, I narrowed down the better units to hunt 180+ bucks in. You can do the same for all those species and not just for trophy sized game. If you want to up your research game, give goHunt.com a chance.
