Go Hunt vs Huntin Fool

Just wanting data/ help with applying for different hunts mainly. I honestly don’t know what all I’m looking for. I’ve heard both on podcasts and both sound very interesting.

I have huntin fool as part of my onX but don't use it much. Big difference in cost and data.

While many on this forum hate them both I refuse to hate someone for running a successful business. And honestly I use gohunt to help me keep track of multiple states/units/species. Never tried huntin fool but I subscribe to gohunt. I use their data, i actually really like their mapping software and ditched OnX for gohunt maps and sometimes I find some good deals on gear through them.

GoHunt gives you the info on odds, etc, and a basic idea of what a unit is like.

HuntinFool gives you similar info, but is more geared to best units in the magazine. They do have commentary on opportunity hunts as well. The main difference is that you can call someone at HuntinFool and talk about a unit or strategy. They are open with knowledge, but that has its limits. They don't know every unit in every state.

Eastmans gives you the same info, as does HuntScore, Epic and a few others.

I've used GoHunt, HuntinFool, and Epic. All can be helpful to figure out your plan. Do they shortcut anything? Maybe, maybe not.

Those success rates usually result in breeder bucks and bulls shot that in turn can hurt heard health and genetics. 2B and 2C in NM is a prime example.

They've commercialized hunting and have encouraged Insta-hero-hunters to post "look at me, look at me" pics of kills on social media giving hunting a bad name.

I've not used Go Hunt yet but have been using Hunting Fool for years. For the average person it's a great resource and their consultants do a decent job of providing additional data and recommendations.

People complain about non residents ruining their state for hunting yet non residents usually only account for less than 20 percent of tags. Non resident are more likely to use an outfitter that hunts private land so should have little effect on public land. These people usually forget that other factors include population increase EVERYWHERE, and loss of habitat for the wildlife that may or may not be managed well by your state. Maybe tags aren't as easy as they once were due to massive die offs in multiple bad winters in the last decade. Sites like gohunt dont give any information away that states dont already share. Hunting content has been available on every entertainment platform since folk stories before Davy Crockett and others like him became celebrities. Any Rokslide member that hates gohunt and other content creators like them should also complain about the shoot to hunt podcast. I thought we were all AMERICANS. Much of the public land is federally protected. We should all be more concerned with what our federal government and state governments are doing to our public land. It has way more impact on wildlife than non residents getting a few tags in your state.

In the last 20 years, what opportunity has significantly grown with the incredible influx of cash in those state coffers? What’s better than it was from an opportunity standpoint point than it was 20 years ago? Where are there more animals on the landscape with better public access? Where are tag numbers increasing beyond demand for tags? Where are herds growing?

The unprecedented amount of money flowing into those state coffers isn’t making anything better. What’s more money going to do?

The hunting industry has the state game and fish agencies completely captured with the R3 bullshit. It’s no different than the pharmaceutical, medical, or agricultural industries.
