Glock 43x MOS vs G19

Heavily considering the G43x MOS for AIWB carry. 15 rounds with the aftermarket mags at that size is pretty awesome. Glock should follow the premise of that magazine on future guns! I wonder how many rounds they could fit into the guns that are 2" wide... I suspect that the G43x will carry much more comfortably than a G19.

I want to put a red dot on it and am considering a weapons light. Doesn't seem like there are a ton of options out there. What are the best ones? Either Surefire or Streamlight and Holosun or Trijicon. If the Surefire light was 500 lumens, I'd probably go with that.

How easy to shoot is the gun compared to a G19? I suspect its snappier and a little harder to shoot at distance, say 25 yards. Anyone have feedback on this? Does it make much of a difference? I suspect that the length difference for shootability is somewhat mitigated by the red dot - the sight radius no longer matters.

One should have similar practical accuracy with either pistol, I would choose the 43x between the two due to the shorter barrel and your location of carry. Recoil should be indifferent. The only reason why I might not consider the 43x would be if I had big enough hands that I cover the slide stop.

Between the 43, 43x and 48, I went with the 43x and after market 15 round mags. It carries so much better than my 19. While I‘m sure there measurable recoil differences, in use I don’t notice much vs the 19.

On the slim frame MOS guns you really are limited to shield RMS pattern or compromise with an RMRcc sitting 1/8” higher unless you get it custom milled. Trijicon really blew it with the RMRcc footprint being proprietary and larger than the shield RMS footprint.

I have a G48 mos with a Holosun 507k and CHPWS adapter plate ($50 shim stock) and it’s a solid package. I have an RMR on a G20 and the Holosun pistol dots are ahead of Trijicon technologically in most ways, they cost less and the durability is 95% that of a trijicon. I’d rather have a US, European or Japanese made optic over a Holosun but it’s not worth it on the compact dots to spend $200 more for the optic and another $150 getting RMRcc slide milling done IMO.

The slim frame guns shoot quite well for their size but not as good as G19. With a dot shooting them at distance isn’t bad but follow up speed is the biggest compromise over a G19. There is just less surface area. They definitely benefit from grip tape and the extra weight of 15 rounds in the shield s15 mags to improve shootability.

My .02, I have a 43x and a 48 and find the 48 much easier to shoot accurately and the size difference is negligible IMHO. I carry my G48 (w/ RMR) AIWB in a Tier1 holster when I am down to a Tshirt and concealment is toughest .. but in colder months I prefer Strongside and my MR918 (RMR) as overall it's just more comfortable and where I carry OWB when the time comes - again IMHO.

Make sure to swap the mag release for a metal one as is recommended by Shield Arms. I have had some issues with G43x with Shield Mags, but it was due to an aftermarket magwell ... not a Shield issue.

None in my experience ... but I have the newer generation of the Shield Mags. I have heard of issues with the older ones, but no first hand experience.

43x MOS. I went from g19 to 43 with taran tactical mag extension. next move is going to be the 43x mos with 15 round mags and red dot.
the 'single stack' glock carries so much better.
Check out the Raven Concealment Vanguard II holster setup. It's wild how comfortable and secure it is.

The Glock 48 uses the same frame as the Glock 43x. The Shield Arms S15 mags work in both the 43X and 48. The difference between the 48 and 43x is the barrel length. The 48 has a 4.1" barrel similar to the G19 while the 43x is smaller at 3.4".

For me personally the longer barrel lengths carry nicer while in AIWB. I had a 43 years ago that I sold due to not being as comfortable to carry AIWB as my G19 was and is. I've contemplated getting a 48, however have never pulled the trigger on making the switch from my 19. I carry my 19 AIWB with a light and RMR every day typically under just a t-shirt without much of an issue.

Assuming you don't have a giant gut or tiny hands, carrying a Glock 19 (or 17) AIWB is not nearly as big an issue as some make it out to be.

The fact is the Glock 17/19 are the standard for striker-fired pistols. Meaning that parts, magazines, and aftermarket accessories are more broadly available.

Furthermore, drawing from concealment and/or shooting under stress is not a recipe for a perfect grip. I want as large a hand purchase as I can reasonably get in a crappy situation.
