I carry a g45 with a rmr awib with zero issue and in a t-shirt most of the time. Las concealment holster, super comfortable, no printing, very comfortable. I also carry a g42 sometimes. Mainly if I’m going for a run or something where I don’t have a belt but honestly with a good holster they carry the same. Get what fits you comfortably and go shoot regularly, that’s how you will get good at distance, not because of minor barrel length difference.

I carry a 43 if I’m wearing lightweight clothing, a 19 if I’m wearing heavy clothing or a coat, and a Ruger LCR (357 loaded with 38 Golden Saber +P) on my ankle if I’m going somewhere I have to tuck in my shirt.

I do feel a little undergunned with the 43 and the Ruger, though they’re a lot better than no gun at all.

I carry federal HST in my 9s.

I am running the factory mags (I live in a mag restricted state and havent made the switch yet), but I have a few friends who run the newer shield mags with zero issues.

The grip length is more likely to print than the barrel length. The heavier gun will put a greater load on your waist. If you're a bit pear-shaped, that matters. A thinner slide/gun is less likely to print (and of course, holster choice is a huge consideration). A hand(s) filling gun, and heavier gun (within reason) is more controllable (I don't think anyone competing in USPSA Open class shoots a small, light pistol, capacity aside).

Your lifestyle and "dress code" might dictate what is concealable for the clothes you have to wear daily.

And those narrower slides will pretty much dictate the smaller, skinnier red dots, e.g., the Shield RMS and the Holosun 407K (I believe that's the thin model) use the same slide cut footprint (at least my P365 cut did). As noted, the RMRcc cut is unique.

And to go off the rails slightly, if you haven't tried it, the P365 variations with the factory optic cut might be worth considering. Most who've tried them are pretty satisfied with them.

I wanted to like the 365, but the grip feels like a bic lighter.

Picked up a 43x a while back and love it. Got night sights and I think I’ll forgo using a red dot with it.

So I discovered that I live about two hours away from the shield arms headquarters. I sent them an email and told them that I don't want the gun if their mags won't work 99.9% of the time in it. Said that if I have trouble with it, I will bring the gun to them to figure it out. I asked them if they are confident we can get it to run and if I should buy the gun. We shall see what they say!

I have a 43x with an RMR and a 48 with the Holosun. The 48 gets carried the most. Like someone said earlier, the RMR is a disaster because it sits way to high. As far as lights, the small streamlights seem to be the best fit and still have some power. I also believe brighter is better if the beam is shaped correctly

I only have a 150 rounds or so through it. Used both shield arms and factory mags. No issues so far. Only used FMJ range ammo so far. Plan to test the underwood bear loads and some home defense stuff soon

How are these guns with steel case ammo? Any issues?

I reload for everything, but it's a pain to always be searching for the brass.
