Glassing Photos

Finding that first animal at any given glassing spot helps a ton, you can now begin to process what you're looking for in that terrain. Been times when I have been glassing a new spot and you have in your mind what your looking for and finally turn up a muley and its a lot smaller than what you were thinking you were going to see and I mean body not antler size, color and how they look in the terrain you are in .

971 yards. The bull up on top in the first picture is 1150.

The one tip I can offer is during your first couple of bino sweeps don’t focus on anything. I did this when I was in the Navy. By keeping my eyes unfocused I found I was better able to pick up things that didn’t fit - a round body where everything is tall trees, a patch of white in a sea of green and brown. Hope that helps.

Something I would recommend is to make sure you are comfortable glassing with a spotter. For me, I hate using one eye. I only use the spotter to judge the animal. I'd highly recommend getting the clearest 15-18x binos you can afford and mount then on a tripod. For me personally that is by far the best way to spot game out to around 2 miles.
