Glass vs contacts while hunting and scouting

Glasses, contacts suffocate your eyes. I have spare at camp or cabin. Have lens cleaning cloth, put them in my bino case when I glass,

Thanks everyone, anyone with an astigmatism have issues seeing double reticles when using contacts?

I had prk 10 years ago, astigmatism came back in my right eye, dominant eye for shooting. Vision is still good but need glasses for bow/muzzy loader, irons. Scopes no need

5 year old thread, still some good information.

I hunted with glasses once. When I was like 14 years old. It sucked. Couldn't see out of the corner of my eyes; turned my head more than needed, resulting in more movement. It was misting and I couldn't see anything, kept having to clean off the lenses. They fogged up when I breathed on them. And couldn't really use binoculars effectively, kept mashing into my glasses and couldn't get a clear view threw them. It was pretty miserable. One and done on the glasses, switched to contacts and "haven't looked back" (stupid pun intended).

On backpack hunts I just wear the contacts, bring a small solution bottle, and the cleaning cup. A backup pair of lenses (that have never been used) always comes with at a minimal weight penalty.

If I had some sort of astigmatism (I don't) I would figure out a way to make the contacts work. Even using less than ideal contacts resulting in a small compromise or "loss" of visual capability would offset the multiple annoyances glasses present.

I hate glasses for most any outdoor activity aside from bright sun. Unfortunately, though I have a broad range of talents from a couple different careers, many years of experience in healthcare, and an advanced degree, no matter how many times I try I cannot touch my eyeball. So glasses it is.

I had Lasik done about 5 years ago. Some of the best $ I’ve ever spent. Wish I would have gotten it done 10 years earlier when I first started talking to my eye doctors about it. I did all the pre and post op stuff locally and had the procedure done in Denver. It was a little over $4500 total then.

Got to be contacts hands down, even more so if it’s cold. Glasses fog when I hike in the cold and get sweaty when it’s warm. Always cleaning them.
