Giving up on 2024 Tundra. Any F150 Tremor owners?

Would a 26 Tundra have that issue? And if the most I tow is a 3400lb fishing boat would I have that issue? I'm between a 26 Tundra limited or an F150 powerboost lariat.

And on your Tundra is it the hybrid or regular engine?

To add to your question I would rather have a Raptor than a Tremor but Noone has been able to tell me what the difference is. One for towing one for offroad is the only answer I get.
I have the gas motor. The Tundra mid cycle refresh is supposed to happen in 2026 but remains to be seen. I highly doubt they will bring back the oil/air tranny cooler. Towing on paved roads at normal speeds is not the issue. 4wd at slow speeds with torque converter unlocked is. If you plan to run any long grades in 4wd it’s not the truck for you.

Aside from this issue is the well known matter of main bearing loss and engines blowing. That is still happening. Toyotas claim of debris in motor is total bunk. Also, all the plastic and trim is uber cheap. At less than 2 yrs old and 26k miles, the rattles and shakes are unreal. The wind noise is the worst on any vehicle I’ve ever owned. The truck is a pile. Has the most warranty claims per truck sold of any of the big 5 half tons. Buy the Ford. It’s a better truck. These Tundras are not the Toyotas of old that were dead nuts reliable.

IMO, the biggest difference between the Raptor and the Tremor is just the style. The body is different. The Raptor is wider and designed for desert off roading. It’s louder and has bigger tires. Just not what I need. I off road in mountains, not race around desert terrain. And I tow. The Tremor is just more practical for me.

I was sitting at a stoplight with a newish F150 Tremor last night. That’s a big truck. Way bigger than I need or want. I spend a lot of time on narrow desert and mountain trails. A truck that big is a liability for me. I’ve been a Toyota truck guy, but what they are making now is really disappointing.

I also think the marketing of off-road packages by all makers is missing the mark. We want an appropriate and durable drivetrain with lockers and suspension. We don’t give a rats ass about all the other crap they are putting on these trucks that drives the costs up.

The tremor has a higher tow rating than the raptor as well as load capacity. The raptor load and tow capacity is limited by the high speed offroad suspension. The tremor gives you the ground clearance of the raptor with the load capacity of a normal truck suspension. I have a gen1 raptor and one of my issues with the newer versions is the electronic controls on the suspension, give me simple which is along the lines of the tremor.

The 5.0 is a great motor. Proven. The EB has marginally better performance and makes its power at lower rpm. It’s also much quieter. The 5.0 is loud. I like quiet. Not sure which direction I’m gonna go there.
I like loud! Haha still a teenager at heart I guess cause I’d cut the mufflers off that sucker and let it eat!

But I get your point

F250 King Ranch 4x4 with gas motor. Tows most of what you want and you are not working it harder than needed. The problem with half tons in general is they are meant to be city trucks with 95% in town driving. Towing trailers and generally 4x4 working them just wears parts quicker. If you plan on replacing it in 4years get a 1/2 ton. If you want it to last 7-8 years go 3/4.

The Tremor is a good option as you get 3:73 gears and the torsen front diff is an option for only $500 last time I checked.

If you’re spending a lot of time and miles off road you might really like the raptor if that’s an option. It has less payload and towing ability but it’s ridiculously more comfortable on rough roads and you can drive stupid fast if you want. It can save a lot of time if you’re covering a lot of miles on dirt.

I have a 23 F150 tremor. I bought it used with 8k and now sits at 37k with no major issues. Some minor gripes. It handles my side by side well and the snow well so far.

The raptor is too wide. I don’t care about going fast. I’m also not a fan of wide tires. What I would like to know is if Raptor has greater transmission cooling capacity? I’ve heard it has an additional cooler. Can anyone confirm?

It’s just too big of a truck. And I hear what you’re saying. My last 3 trucks have been 3/4 tons.

I thought they were too wide too until I bought one. Mine is now covered in pinstripes but there isn’t anywhere my tundra could go that the raptor won’t fit. Even if you don’t go fast the raptor has 13-15” of suspension travel (depending on the generation) so it rides way way smoother than any other truck. I don’t know about the tranny cooling capacity but I’m sure it’s the same or better than a regular F150.

You will be just fine with a 1/2 ton. My boys drive my old 150 I drove 20 years. 225,000 mi….

I don’t tow a bunch but do have a 30’ bumper pull I pulled recently on a hunt, up over a pass about 100 mile trip… no complaints with the 3.5. It never lacked power uphill at elevation, With the extra leaf she sits about level.
