I have two of the original ambient jackets from Sitka I’ve loved the past several years. Only problem I’ve ran into is it can be a bit warm during activity unless it’s those truly colder temp hunts. I thought I’d make an effort to stay a bit cooler in it. (I know they have the ambient 75 and the new OV coming out) but I wanted to make what I have work. I also don’t find the grid fleece to be all that breathable imo anyways.
I put the jacket on inside out and marked off the areas I wanted to thin the insulation. (Back, bino harness, and underarms) I ran one of the little machine for fabric piling back and forth and it’s worked really well. Now the fleece is a bit more “body-mapped” and should be a bit better during high output. Something pretty simple and dumb but looks like it should do the trick.
