Is it possible to only chamfer/deburr on Giraud without trimming case. I finally stepped up from a Frankfurd Arsenal case prep system. With that machine, I could run the case in the pilot if it needed to be trimmed, it would trim it, if it didn’t need trimming, it wouldn’t. After I ran it through the pilot I would chamfer/deburr and be on my way. I realize the Giraud does it in one step. With this new machine if it doesn’t need trimming, do I have to hand chamfer/deburr? I haven’t received the Giraud yet so I haven’t been able to play with it.

I think you could adjust the cutter. But I see no point. Worst that happens or only chamber deburs a tiny touch and just cleans up length a tiny. And if length doesn't need it it won't cut it.

If it doesn’t get cut then it didn’t get chamfered/deburred. That’s the point of my question. Can you set yours to chamfer/deburr if the case doesn’t need trimming?

Yes, you can. Kind of. Its just a v shaped cutter so id you set your case holder to a depth that the brass never touches the bottom of the V, you wont be trimming length off the neck. If you have much neck length variance case to case, some cases will get a full chamfer/debur and some little to none depending on the variance and how you set case holder depth.

On virgin cases that need chamfer/deburred i usually just set it to barely trim a thou or so off a shorter case and run them all through. If you trim a couple thou off some its not the end of the world.
