Getting a tikka cerekoted

When they called to take the order they were super surprised when I said I think I’ll pass on the cerakote.

I had my barrel, action, rail and bolt done and didn’t notice a difference. I also had the bolt fluted by LRI before it was cerakoted and it looks good.

The cerakote is magpull FDE and the stock I painted with the “camo” colors of krylon they had at Home Depot.

Ended up going with the tungsten cerekote, I think it turned out great. Action is still as smooth as glass.

Love the color! Is the bolt/barrel smooth or slightly "gritty"? From the picture it looks to have a rough texture

I had my stainless bolt fluted & cerakoted by LRI and never noticed much of a difference from beforehand. Even if there was some stickyness, I'm sure it would've gone away after a bit of shooting.

If you decide to coat it, do it before you develop a load. In my experience it's a timely and costly chase.
Cerakote is awesome, the modern 'bluing' or parkerizing kinda sucks.

I just had the bolt done. I forget what color but it was a recommended color that's closest to black. They're fluting service was a pretty quick and easy mod.

The Tikka Super Varmint comes with cerakoted bolt and action. I can’t imagine mine being any smoother, so I’ll have to take the word of others that the non- cerakote actions are smoother. I’ve been very pleased with mine.
