Geissele Super 700 Equivalent?

Anyone know why Geissele discontinued the Super 700? Hopefully not a safety issue. I have one 700 and it has a 2 stage Super 700. I like the trigger.

They said it was too costly for them to manufacture I think. So I guess they redesigned it to lower costs. Remains to be seen how the redesign will do.

If I needed a trigger now for a 700, I would buy the Mod 22 tactical.

Most interesting is this gun uses… yep, the Super 700 trigger.

Though it remains to be seen what the revisions to the design do to its feel and reliability.

If I needed a trigger now for a 700, I would buy the Mod 22 tactical.

I know this is an old thread, but curious if the Mod 22 target is the same at the Mod 22 tactical? Can’t seem to find the tactical on their website.

Also looks like the new Super 700 is now available thorough Geissele - any reports on whether the reliability/safety is on-par with the old Super 700?

Not the same. IIRC the target doesn’t have a safety.

Haven’t used the latest versions.

Looks like they now have a “target” version with a safety and no “tactical” version… do you think they just re-named? Or were there differences in the mechanics of the tactical other than just the safety?

Was able to talk to Tom with XTSP. Sounds like the only difference between the tactical and target w/ safety is the trigger shoe. Apparently the one-piece trigger shoe they were using on the tactical was a super expensive component so he started phasing it out. According to him all internals remain the same.
