Gear hits and misses

Hits - tikka, NF scopes, kuiu kutana pants, SG packs, smart wool

Misses - savage, Leupold, kuiu kenai, MR packs

Hit: Garmin Xero
Miss: leupold sx-2 spotter. Not bad for the price, just wish I had gone with a higher end option.

Hits: merino wool base layers
Misses: am starting to think the Kifaru supertarp annex may have been a miss for a hot tent choice. Doesn’t seem to be many stove options that won’t make the pipe rub up against the tarp

How you liking those La Sportiva Nucleos? I'm considering getting a pair. Kind of scared that they are made in China given the price point.
So far I really like them. I have worn them almost a year with no issues and my dad has worn them for a few years with no issues. I caught them at Sierra for $70. I did size up a half size to use thicker socks with them. So far no leaks but I will know more after turkey season this year. Hopefully they are still good!

Thanks. That’s a great find at Sierra at that price. I’ve read they run kind of narrow, but REI sells them in a wide size which I probably need for my flat Fred Flintstone feet, so I’ll probably wait for a member sale and get a pair there… plus being an REI member if they crap out within a year I can take them back…

Gear Hits: BRS stove from Amazon ($15 and works good as long as it’s not to windy). Katadyn BeFree water filter, Venandi bino pack holster

Miss: WildTech Game Grip adhesive strips for getting hair off meat…

Hit: Suppressor - This is the one that without a doubt I would never go without anymore. No more blast to worry about (no flinch), my hearing won't get any worse (at least from hunting), and it just makes shooting so much more pleasant.

Miss: Cheap boots - Nothing worse than a poor fitting cheap boot to destroy your feet after a day of hiking. Not many things that will kill your hunt faster.
