fractions work fine until you need to incorporate the metric system to make it work. ie- decimal inches for machining tolerances

Yeah the weird part is that its already after a decimal... the price is $3.99.9 ..its basically a way of saying $4 without saying $4. Honestly, nobody even pays attention to that last part (which is probably why they do it).

No the price is $3.999. The reason there isn't a decimal behind the 99 cents is because there's one in front of it. The 9/10 thing is a very weird way of writing it.
At least our money is base 100.
