Gas canister refill valve not working

I have one of those refilling valves used to transfer gas from a full stove canister to an empty one.
I have used it to refill 100gm jetboil canisters from cheaper 450gm canisters.

I just tried to refill a mates 100gm canisters and nothing is happening. No liquid transfer at all.

The 450gm canister was in the freezer for 10 minutes and the 100gm canister was in the sun. Plenty of temperature difference.
Never had any problem doing this before.

Liquid comes out the valve with the 450gm can upside down. It only seems to equilize the vapour pressure between cans with no liquid transfer.
Any suggestions?

I worked it out.
The empty can is the one that should be in the freezer not the full can.

Did you think that because you are downunder that it would work backwards?
