While snorkeling in Maui, my old garmin forerunner (which I brought as a knock around watch) started to wig out. At some point it stated an activity and I couldn't get it to stop. Then going off and on from said activity. It never stopped until the battery ran out.

Should they be waterproof in saltwater? I dove down a litter here and there but I wouldn't expect to behave gone deep enough to be an issue.

I have a Garmin watch I have had for almost 4 years. Only take it off to charge it. Never an issue with any water, ocean, river, etc.

Buddy has some kind of garmin watch that he only takes off to charge. Its been dunked many times in the gulf of America and hes never complained about it

I’m on the water in southeast AK for 100 plus days a year, have worn a garmin instinct for the last 6 or 7 years. It’s exposed to some sort of moisture every day, be it saltwater or rain. Hasn’t missed a beat and still going strong.
