Thinking about picking up an Instinct 3. Anyone have experience with the Applied Ballistic integration and it's usefulness in the Tactical edition? Use case hunting (duh) but also NRL matches.

I'm particularly interested in whether it can connect with a Revic BR4 to readout solutions. I find myself double checking in the rangefinder to confirm I read the solution properly. Glancing at the watch would be convenient.

A video mentioned integration with any bluetooth capable rangefinder, but I'm not sure if the watch having AB software and Revic having its own means they won't integrate well.

Just having the range card display might be worth it. Definitely a case of, "I think it's neat, but not necessary" given my current setup with the BR4.

Last year I was looking at the Instinct 2x Solar and the 2x Tactical. I looked at the AB capabilities on the Tactical and decided it was not worth it. For $50 more I get a green flashlight (which would have been nice) and the ability to buy the AB license for the watch. Fast forward to the Instinct 3 and there is now a $100 difference and you still get to buy the AB license for the watch.

If the cost is worth it to you, reach out to Garmin and Revic to see what they have to say.

Yeah I shot Revic an email.

Trying to find a store that has them in stock so I can mess with one. 45mm is more ideal for my wrist but I want to see if the 50mm is worth it.

Juice probably isn't worth the squeeze but I like tinkering. The five different ballistics apps on my phone are proof haha.

Since you like to tinker you might as well go all in:

These type of glasses have come a long way in short order.

On a Garmin size note, my wrists are not big. The Instinct 2X Solar fits nice but its replacement, the Enduro 3, fits just fine.

Ended up grabbing the Instinct 3 Solar Tactical from @EuroOptic . Thanks again Jake.

So many customization options, applications, data sets, etc. to keep familiarizing myself with but got it set up pretty well I think.

The Applied Ballistics setup was pretty easy. Copied my Revic data over and adjusted BC to get the Garmin/AB range card to align with my Revic range card that's already trued. It was only off a few hundredths with the same BC, dropping from .270 to .260 in AB aligned it a bit closer all the way to 800.

May never use it, or it may be useful if someone else is ranging for me. Mostly interested in all the fitness, health and sleep data it's going to provide.

I'm a fan of nylon bands, but the ones I have would block the optical HR sensor so looking for some quick detach options.

@SteveAndTheCrigBoys , yep, had the same habit of wanting to second guess and take another glance again at the app on my phone. Problem was not wanting to keep phone in hand all the time. What a pain. Well, for my simple mind an old tried & true solution couple years ago out west for antelope did the trick . 😁

I was thinking about a Garmin with the AB but decided it was not worth it. The instinct 3 solar gives you elevation which is the only thing a kestrel struggles with. I would invest in a kestrel sooner than an AB smartwatch. But some people may think it's more worth it.
