I recently bought a Garmin inreach mini. I am wondering what messages everyone uses as presets to send out while in the back country. thanks in advance for the ideas/info!

First 2 presets are to my wife. 3rd is to my wife, dad and brother. All messages I have set to send coordinates to my location with each msg sent.

1st - Goodmorning, I’m headed out for the day. Wish me luck!
2nd - Hey I just wanted to reach out and let you know I made it back to camp safe!
3rd - Please send help, I am injured and I cannot get back safely

My 3 presets are:
1) Leaving camp for the day, everything is ok. Love you!
2) At camp for the night, everything is ok. Love you!
3) Just checking in, everything is ok. Love you!

If i need to send anything else its either an sos situation or i will write a custom message. If i am over my 10 messages i will just eat the 20 cents or whatever it is per message over the limit.

Mine are right along the same lines as these. A good morning, a everything is great, hope it is for you too, and a survived the day, good night type of one. You can make them pretty long by maximizing the characters and those easily keep my wife at ease for the day.

My three presets are similar.

1. Just checking in, everything is ok.
2. Got delayed and will be late.
3. Back at the truck.

Anything other than this, I send a custom text. I have the earthmate app on my phone that allows me to use my iphone keyboard to text, makes things a whole lot quicker.

Mine are along the same line as everyone else... but I typically send my current location when I start the day, when I break for lunch, and once back at camp. That's pretty much my "preset" that says I'm alive and well.. and on the move

1. Checking in/everything is going good
2. Animal down!
3. Send help but not 911.

These are mostly for my wife except the third one. I also send coordinates with each message so she can see if I'm heading deeper or back to the car.

The responses “yes” and “no” are good ideas to have as predefined messages. I also have “I am going to be late, but everything is fine”
