Gana River Part 2-NWT Sheep and Moose Experience

Congrats on another great ram. We met at the hotel in Norman Wells back in 2022. I was one of the (many) coming in from Arctic Red where our group went 2 for 6 on rams. What I would do to have another opportunity to hike those mountains during sheep season, next time with Gana River though! 😂

I remember meeting you as well! You guys looked like you had given 110% I do hope you are able to get back up there for another opportunity.

Thanks for the write up! I really enjoyed the read. What a trip! For not being a moose guy you did pretty good😁

Great write up and animals.
Gana River was also my first guided hunt back in 1999. Excellent camp and staff, and I was impressed with their hydro electric generator. I shot a Dall ram, a velvet mountain caribou, and a wolverine as we were packing out my ram.

Are the prices they are currently advertising accurate or have they gone up dramatically?

It looks like they may be one of the more affordable outfits for a Dall.

I believe they are accurate but I think the ones listed on the website are for 2026 and they are booking into 2030 for sheep which will certainly be higher than the 2026 prices listed. iThey are going up both sheep and caribou seem to be rising the quickest but I still think Gana is one of the cheaper NWT sheep outfits; cheap of course being relative because it certainly still quite expensive. Not sure if it is because supercubs are cheaper to operate than helicopters as I think they are the only sheep outfitter that doesn’t use them. I can’t speak for other NWT concessions but it certainly doesn’t seem to be because of lesser trophy quality animals.
