Game meat bags - what to buy?

So I seem to have misplaced my set of TAG bags over the last year. I have looked enough to call off the search and buy some more. I have a couple of kifarus and like those but wanted to get a set that can at least handle a white tail and possibly a black bear.

Before I order another set of tags I wanted to ask what you people use and prefer. I have heard good things about caribou. I could buy a couple more Kifaru's and call it a day. Any others I should be looking at? What do you like and use?

I absolutely would not use the Kifaru for more than transporting meat for a few hours at a time and you need something else to put the meat in before and after transporting so it can breath and cool. I have a set of tags that is 4-5 years old, packing out multiple animals per year with them, and other than some slight discoloration they are still like new. I have since tried a single quarter bag from Caribou and the medium quarter from Kuiu along with the small zip from kuiu. My friend hunting partner has the black ovis. I still prefer the tags as they are the lightest weight material, and also the smoothest face finish material. My bomb set is a little small to try and fit a deboned elk hind quarter into which was the reason for trying a slightly larger bag from other companies. I know TAG makes a bag about that size as well I just haven't bought one yet. Unless you are in a hurry and TAG is sold out they would still be my choice.

I liked TAG bags, but I would have loved the reflective strip on the Caribou Game Bags when I had to find them in the dark by head lamps.

I think we're in the world of ford vs Chevy

Caribou has worked well for me, no complaints.

This forum loves tag bags

I see jimmy tarps also sees some now.

Reality is some giant fabric mill makes the fabric, the companies we buy from order and sew.

Go with th brand that gives you comfort and confidence

I disagree they are not made from the same material. Similar sure but I want the most air flow without the chance of bugs getting though. Tag bags are the best for that period. I get to use a bunch of other brands helping others guys and while most work ok they don't get the air though like tags

I use Alaskan game bags...light, cheap, good airflow and get 4+ elk on a set if careful and then buy another set. I roll up 5 and compress down to a little larger than softball...when I go pack out I simply used homemade sheets sewed as pack bags..simple, effective and cheap.👍

Can anyone comment on the Allen brand of game bags? I have some but haven't been successfully filled them yet.
They work great. Cotton bags are what my processor prefers. He thinks they perform better than synthetic.

Not quite. Caribou and black Ovis are similar. TAGS are thinner by far not even a comparison. Can't comment on Jimmy Tarps bags.

Which ones? I used their regular outfitter bags that sold at Walmart for $4/pack for years, but they're heavy and flies can blow through them. This year I used the synthetic Allen Backcountry Meat Bags in the orange bag and they worked great. Much lighter and more compact than their outfitter bags. Washed them up and they're good to go for the next one. They were $25 at Amazon.

tag bags are awesome
also used the jimmy bags this season as well
very impressive as well
tag bags, and jimmy would be my choices
both cleaned up quite well
the tag bags seem to be maybe more durable, the jimmys bags are softer more subtle material
but both worked great this season in idaho on a elk

Sorry, yes I'm using the same one you mentioned, $25 on Amazon for the four. I have a collection of the heavy fabric ones but didn't want to pack those. Glad to hear a concurrence of the good reviews I read before buying.

Just don't try to hang them with the little loop they have sewed into them at the top. I ended up tying up the tops of the bags with 550 cord and using that to hang them.

TAG bags.
Great customer service and the guy stands behind his product.

I have also used the caribou bags. Zero complaints from them.

I still have my collection of cotton bags that I keep in camp for loaners or if I need to separate meat in camp for some reason.

NAPA Auto parts car polishing cloth is a tubular knit that comes in several size packages. For 40 pound bags, I use it double strength. An 8 pound roll will handle 2 very large bull moose....boned out....double strength.

Tags arrived. I bought a set of larges. I can use them as sleeping bag liners until I land an animal.
