So I can’t decide. Argali, black Ovis red, or the stone glacier live wild game bags. All have something different to offer. Performance is obviously the most important.

How well do they breathe while also keeping bugs out and off meat.
Durability is probably equally important because a reusable bag that only lasts one or two animals isn’t worth it. I used to have caribou gear for 10+ years but have decided to retire them after many animals. The one thing I notice is they are kind of heavy. And maybe bulky but no more than any others.

What do yall think is the best performer of these?

Same experience with caribou, currently using argali and happy with them although I have some small holes in a couple bags that I am working on patching with the patch kits they sell. Honestly, I feel it’s to be expected with true ultra light bags. I’m not overly rough with them, but I’m usually solo so inevitably a bag comes across rocks or sticks as I get situated. Never an issue with caribou but I moved on for same reason you listed. No experience with any other brands currently.

I like the Jimmy Tarps bags. Didn't realize you could still get them. They are light and breathe and pretty durable.

Also like the Backcountry Borne bags but I don't think he sells those anymore.

Have two different sets of argali. I don’t have any complaints with them. Never tried black ovis or SG. SG use to be my go to with everything but the new corporate model and pricing is slightly off putting to me. But argali bags have treated me well for 3 or so seasons now.

I'll throw one more in the mix. Born and Raised bags. I really like the zipper.

Same feelings about SG

I have the most experience with the Walmart Allen brand game bags and for the price they work great. But recently switched to marsupial gear bags and am impressed so far they breath better and clean easily.

I have the Black Ovis white and red bags. White have a couple Elk and Nilgai through them and are fine, Reds have one Elk and one Nilgai and two of them have holes after the Nilgai this last December. The holes don't look like weakness though, they look like they got pinched and rolled in something on my bike trailer so I'm giving them another year (holes are tiny).
Allen bags as cheap as they are I've got sets that are probably 12+ years old and seen dozens of deer and they're still going strong. They're not sexy but they work. They have different sets, I think I have the ones called Allen Backcountry. I don't know if they make Elk sized though.

Can you elaborate? I know they sold but that’s all

I still use a ton of SG gear and haven’t seen any negative changes in the products themselves, there’s not been any drastic changes that make me want to stop using their stuff. But there’s been a noticeable shift in marketing and pricing since being bought. Just doesn’t have the same small company feel anymore. A culture thing. As far as I know the customer service is still great, so honestly the common man wouldn’t notice much but if you’ve been involved with them since the early days it’s noticeable. I also know a few people that worked there, and left shortly after the changes, so that most likely has swayed my opinion on some things. Have no fear purchasing SG, like I said I will continue to use the gear it’s what I own the most of. As far as game bags I was just having a conversation with a buddy about the fact that when you buy something labeled as ultralight, it’s going to have some sacrifices. The caribous I was pretty rough with but I wanted lighter and smaller packed up size bags so I will now have to be a little more mindful with them. Just something to keep in mind with weight/space savings upgrades, there’s naturally gonna be somewhat of a durability decrease

I just got to see one in person yesterday, much lighter than I expected I was pretty impressed. I will admit I first thought they were gimicky, but I can see the benefit to zipping the bag on a quarter before you lay it over and cut it all the way off.

Most top brands are nearly the same as far as materials. I have Black Ovis. I mainly use TAG Bags. I’ve had them for about 13 years and piles of elk. Still like new including no stains or odor. They clean up nicely.
