Gaiters

I have used the Kenetrek, Kuiu and OR, and IMO the OR is the most functional and durable product. The Kuiu is good and a bit quieter but not as durable in my experience. The original Kuiu seemed les breathable than the OR product. Both OR and Kuiu have provided great customer service around their products (never needed to use it with kenetrek, as I have not used their gaiters very much).

You can get the OR's in coyote if you do not like black.

Maybe Aron knows of a source for Berry compliant coyote brown crocs ? I have gone to their website and the page is there but the links are dead ends.

I'm thinking of getting some fabric spray paint and making my black gaiters brown. Will probably fail, but what the hell.

Anyone run the Sitka Gaiters? Also, for those of you who utilize pants with built in knee pads (i.e Sitka Mt Pants, Core4Element Switchback, etc.)... What gaiters do you use? My gaiters and the knee pads don't play well...

I have a set of the Sitka flash gaiters that I wear when conditions are not terrible. I use them mostly to keep dew off pants/ socks. They are fairly short and work great with trail runners. When in deep snow or mud I break out the kenntreks

I was looking at some Cabela's brand gaiters, Alaska Guide or some such. Maybe I'll give them a try.

It was probably the expeditions that I saw in coyote.

Maybe if Kifaru is having OR make then some pack covers maybe we talk Kifaru into pushing OR for a run of Coyote or light gray Crocodiles! ;)
I have two pairs of OR Crocs that are 8-10 years old. Both have gray uppers and a black lower. An all black gaiter really heats up in the sun in the high country. I'm all for lighter, earthier, color gaiters; but then again the dark ones dry out fast! :)

My ORs look a lot like these ones from Core4 (sans the red).

I have a couple pairs of the Expedition Crocs, and they are heavier than my standard Crocs....but in warm weather my calves sweat even in the standard models. I don't think they're any heavier GTX, just heavier nylon....which granted won't breathe as well, but not as much as a heavier barrier layer. I guess my point is, I can wear my Expedition Crocs in spring/fall and it's not so hot that I can't wear them.

And they used to make a pair of standard Crocs in grey, but I don't see them on the OR site any more.

I have a few pairs of pants with the built in knee pads and I just take them out. Gaiters would have to be too short to function properly if you wanted them below the knee pads. It is kinda a bummer because I like the them for coyote hunting.

I had a pair of the Sitka Stormfront gaiters and I was really impressed with them...they were just a bit too small for me to wear over anything other than a light pair of pants so I sold them.

Same here. I took mine out. I'm thinking about trying a pair of Arc'teryx Knee Caps this year.
