Looking at booking a 2027 DIY or drop-camp caribou hunt. Any strong recommendations on transporters or outfitters based on recent hunts? Has anyone booked with Susitna Air (spoke with their owner and it sounds like he's been doing moose for a bit but starting to do more caribou)? I booked a caribou hunt out of the Kotzebue area in 2021, so leaning towards something more central Alaska on this go around if possible. Thanks for any advice.

If it helps, specifically looking at Arctic Air, Arrowhead, or Tok. It seems like a couple of those have changed owners in recent years and the reviews on here have been pretty mixed on service/over-booking/over-placing guys in the field. Does anyone have 2025 hunt experience with any of these outfits? Thanks!

Caribou herds in Alaska [and the world] are suffering so the demand far exceeds the supply of hunts available.
Prices are rising and quality of available flights can be questionable. Others may be more optimistic but from my experience of a half century of remote Alaska hunting, I'm not encouraged but what I see.

That definitely seems like its the case. Unfortunate to see it trend this way for the population.

Don’t let your eagerness cause you to dismiss negative reviews. Unfortunately what you’re looking for is increasingly tougher to find. Definitely seems to be a fair bit of choices on the north brooks range based off the haul road. Either by air or boat. Although that seems to be an opportunity to hunt, I can’t help but notice myself the majority are not what I would call big bulls.

Thanks. Agreed with your thoughts on bulls. We've gotten a little closer to narrowing down options...probably some degree of a gamble involved but that beats not going!

We did Arctic Air this August and had a very successful hunt. My review is posted here in RS if you want to read it.
