I have two rests. One is a cast iron rest that was sold by RW Hart in PA. The other is a cast iron rest made by Bald Eagle in Lock Haven PA that was called a Kelby rest because it was designed to fit on narrow benches at the Kelby Shooting range in Ohio that held the Super Shoot every year.

Bald Eagle sold several years ago. Owner was a nice man who made quality shooting products. They don't hold the Super Shoot at Kelby's anymore either. I'm getting old.

This is my aluminum Protektor front rest. I shoot in the rain often and got this setup for that. Other setup is twice as heavy, with leather bags. 260Rem cast bullet rig.

I have used a Hart rest and conventional rear bag for nearly 30 years with no issues. I never use a bipod for load development. Always check zero with the bipod before taking it to the field.
