Freeze drying?

I plan to get one eventually. Family of five, so buying freeze dried meals gets expensive quick. I'm not sure the math will work out, but the convenience and food options will be a big plus. I also thought the kids might be able to make some side money selling freeze dried candy.
I'd probably try and freeze dry some of our snacks too, just to reduce weight even more.

I would say in the long run yes it would be worth purchasing your own. It is a significant investment and has a steep learning curve. I purchased one a few years ago with the intention of making my own back packing meals for elk hunts. It turned into a passion and then a business. If you have any questions I’d be more than happy to give some advice and hopefully shorten that learning curve.
