Scouting for OTC elk and Bear. Every day I can from here till season. Been going out about once a week and plan on camping out there so hopefully 10 days at the very minimum

OTC elk this year. I plan 5 days, and possibly a couple more, depending on looking into a new area.

I was somewhat confident on drawing a tag that would mean a lot more time scouting. But, it didn’t happen.

I will be scouting for blacktail deer in Western Oregon 14+ days. I’ll have two tags this year, so I’m going to be putting in double the work in the preseason.

Whitetail deer is only expected hunting. Super low odds of an elk draw.
E-scout weekly, and live within 1 hour of tons of public.
Actual scouting trips will be a dozen or more.

Buddy drew a Colorado bighorn tag.
He doesn’t live here currently so I’m going to do a lot of scouting for him.
5-6 trips
1-2 days at a time

Not sure 100% yet (should know in the morning) but hopefully a special deer or elk tag if not a general elk and a couple weekends in our stomping grounds to scout. If I draw a good tag though all the weekends I can before season.

Got an Iowa whitetail tag, so will spend a 3 day weekend scouting and hanging cameras in late July/August. Will return the last week of October to start my hunt.

Locally, I'll scout a day or two for deer. And probably at new spots.

I won't know for sure until results are posted tomorrow, but optimistically. elk deer and antelope (probably just general elk though in the end). If just general elk, 4-5 days to check on my usual areas.

Already been out 4 days.. Snow, snow, and high creeks still will keep most areas inaccessible for another 3 weeks at least but some areas are accessible. My place at 12,1k’ is still snowed in for at least another week.

My realistic wish list =

25+ for my archery mule deer license maybe more
8ish helping a buddy w archery elk
4 or so rifle elk for the father
5-6 helping another buddy w rifle deer

I guess that seems like a lot but I will never be more than maybe a 2-3 hr drive of my house.. Many nights we take the girls after work.

Whitetails - 10-12 days
Will time the scouting to fall within 6-8 weeks of the 3 to 5-day quota hunts I draw, should get ML and rifle this year - if that's the case, then will scout Sept & October for the 2 end of Oct beginning of Nov weekend hunts.
