Foxpro X24 vs Xwave?

I am looking to replace my old Foxpro Prairie Blaster 2 call after many years. It still works, but its really heavy and my rechargeable batteries are nearing the end of their life.

My buddy I call with has a Lucky Duck, and we like having both brands for different sounds. Also I have a lot of aftermarket sounds to transfer so I will stick with Foxpro.

Anyone have any advice as to which call to buy? Thinking of getting one I can custom program from Allpredatorcalls.

Thanks.

Between my son and I we have an X24, XWave and the HellCat Pro. We use the X24 the least. I can tell a slight sound difference with the Hellcat, its speaker is not quite as clear/crisp but is way more than good enough for any predator. The X24 and XWave sound amazing with the XWave having a couple features with multiple sounds/sound movement I cannot get from the X24. The XWave is a larger unit to carry around but not too big or heavy. The major difference for us is the decoy attachment. The XWave and Hellcat have the decoy attachment built into the call so its all one unit and run off the remote. The X24 has a plug in port for a decoy cord to plug in, but no way to attach it to the call. Thats a pain for us. For most days we carry the XWave and love it. If we are doing a backcountry hunt and want a much lighter call with a small profile we generally bring the Hellcat. If we are going backcountry and don’t need a decoy we bring the X24. Hope this helps.

Had to go back and edit the post. I was referring to my larger caller as a Shockwave but its an XWave. Too many callers with too similar of names.

Thanks all.

I use a separate mojo critter decoy anyway to get added height in the pasture grass I usually hunt. Really the cleaner sound is the biggest thing I’m looking for in a new call. It looks like the X24 is the only one that plays sounds back at 24 bit, the x wave can play 24 bit sounds back, but does it at 16 bits. Just found that this afternoon while researching calls.

I will say I think the little legs/handle on the X24 are junk. One slid off the night of a tourney and I had to waste time trying to get it back on. Didnt have a Phillips on me. Do I had to buy an over priced one from a gas station.

Then the other day one was feeling loose so I was going to loosen the screw, clamp the legs from the outside to make sure they were on and all the way.

I realized it was where it attaches to the grey housing that was loose. Then I see the little screw is missing. When I look at the other side I see the nut is still in. And it’s still got the screw in it. The screw had sheared off. No clue how because the housing holds everything. And I don’t rotate that leg because it’s the one I have a tripod screwed into full time.

The design on the legs is crap and they must have used crap hardware.

The 24 bit vs 16 bit is why we bought an X24. I thought that must be more clear or sound better however I can’t hear a difference between the XWave and X24 when we have played them in the field near each other. The Hellcat you can tell isn’t as clear, but they are so far beyond the older ecallers I used 30 years ago that also worked well. I also have not had better days using any of the three, predators seem to respond to all three the same with the same sound clip. The XWave does allow for blending of multiple sounds and movement of the sounds between the speakers. That has made a difference before but not often. I also have a Mojo Critter and liked it, but I really prefer the decoys mounted to the caller now as I can turn them on and off with the remote. That has been huge in our setups. I’ve read other posts where folks have had coyotes turn tail and run when they see the decoy, but I haven’t experienced that. When I use the caller in tall brush/grass I attach it to a small nikon tripod. The X24 and Hellcat have a threaded stud on the bottom for this. The Xwave does not.

Thanks all.

I have an outsoorsmans adapter on my Prairie Blaster I use to get elevation with it at times. When I do I use the built in decoy. It makes some noise clattering around against the plastic that the mojo critter doesn’t. Not a big deal unless its a tight area and they get real close to the call. I’m not using a tripod in those situations anyway.

It is nice to be able to turn the decoy on when I spot a coyote, letting the guys I’m with know I have seen one coming
