Opposite of the usual desired outcome. TMKs/ELDMs are def not fur friendly, not sure if anything in 22CM or 6CM would be. I have too many foxes hanging about and I hate to waste the fur. Foxes are usually crossing fields anywhere from 150 -450 yards. For the 22CM I have some 77SMKs I could load up. 6CM I have DTACs or 112 Match Burners on hand. Or I could be boring and load up the .223 w SMKs

I think you’re going to see some big holes with a 22 CM or 6 CM. I’ve shot foxes with both and they just get wrecked (even on some longer shots) due to how thin the skin is.

I’ve shot them with:
- 62 gr ELDVT
- 80 gr ELDM
- 88 gr ELDM
- 87 Vmax
- 108 ELDM

Might be better off with something like a 223 and a 40 gr Vmax

A great bullet on fur out of my 22-250 is the Berger 52 grain match. I shoot 53’s out of my slow twist 22 Creed and they are 50/50. I shoot 80.5’s and 85.5’s out of my fast twist 22 Creed. They do decent if I hit the shoulder. If not it leaves giant holes.

I’ve already seen them🤣 just need something to zip through w out upset/expansion.

I have some 53 gr Nosler ( tolerable on foxes) that the .223 likes, my reg practice ammo (currently not loaded, but needs to be) is 77gr SMK. It’s annoying to change zero on the rifle, the 22CM and 6CM prob aren’t needed for real work until next fall.

Dude, I need to visit and help with the problem.

Use a .223 and shoot a smaller bullet?

Yeah, but that’s boring. Foxes are generally targets of opportunity during their season, the Pyrenees is surprising good at alerting on them even at the far end of the field. A smarter fella might be able to use a game call.

I agree, most of the foxes I’ve shot have been while I'm out and about. I’ve been able to call in several though. You’d be surprised at what some lip squeaks can do.

Spotted this one while elk hunting and dang near hopped in my lap. He got a free pass that day just for being cool.

Centerfire is nice for the extended range, but I may just pick up a 17 HMR. Those pelts sure are nice when they don’t have a huge gaping hole 😂😂

I have shot fox with .223 40-gr VMAX at 3300 while coyote hunting. Sometimes I luck out, sometimes not. Holes are either real small or real big - no middle ground. Fox are small and thin skinned and I prefer my .17 WSM with 20-gr bullets out to 200 yd (depending on wind). If you are "stuck" with 22/6 CM I can't give recommendations other than consider putting out traps. Good luck

The 17s are ready made for foxes. Maybe a 22 Hornet with older style SP bullets.

Other than that I’ve not seen any centerfire that would consistently not blow them up.

If you shot them back in the liver and stay out of most of the bone, that might help.
