Will Tikka come out with a 6 CM soon???

Just got to the range with a tikka 6CM. I bought it for my daughter’s first deer rifle. I put a 3-9 SWFA on it. Try and keep it simple, light & compact for her. Put a vertical grip, butt pad and cheek pad/riser on it.

These were shots 4-8 down the barrel after getting a close enough bore sight and zero.

105 Berger’s and N555. This will be excellent.

It won’t single feed a bullet, but it feeds out of the magazine like butter. I definitely don’t like that you have to load the gun with the safety off. My only complaint.
Do her a favor and take that break off. Hated those things as a kid.

I’ll see what she thinks. Tikka stocks suck for recoil management. She will never be shooting without ear pro. With the right brake, muzzle blast to shooter from a 6CM is negligible IMO.

Killed some stuff with the 105s? Also are they a m+ mag. I modified my M mags and found out by accident if the follower sits up higher (by product of follower moving back) tikkas single feed mint atleast in 223, 6.5 creed and 243).

Looks good! Forgive my ignorance... are you shooting the 105 VLD hunting, VLD target, hybrid target?....
They’re the 105 hybrids

Haven’t killed anything with the 105’s specifically, but lots with Berger’s. At the ranges I would let her shoot, I trust them.

Im honestly not sure on the mags, but I’ll look into that. Thank you!

I will try take a picture when I can to show what I mean better.

Definitely would like to hear your findings on this. I’ve got one on backorder from EuroOptic and want to chop to 16-18” and thread first thing. 5/8x24 would be preferred so please let us know!
I do still find the fact you guys seem to have standardized muzzle threads interesting. It is very handy where your cans are more expensive and more restricted but we just thread them whatever size is most appropriate for the barrel.

I win. Hahaha. I may be one of the first consumers with one in hand, I would imagine.

This came from lipseys. They must have literally gotten one of their first couple in stock when my dealer threw it in his cart and pressed send knowing I wanted it, it showed up 2 days later.

I’m really excited, I’ve wanted one for ages but didn’t want to spend the money to have a barrel chambered or buy a prefit. The 22.4” barrel is absolutely going to have to go though. I’m chopping it to 16” ASAP.
How did this go? Were you able to thread it 5/8x24?

ASAP wasn’t as fast as I wanted.

I’m still working through some false (what I think at least) pressure issues. Where if I can’t figure them out and get the speed I want out of the 116 at 22.4” I’m either shooting a different bullet or not going to waste money chopping it to 16”.

I had heavy bolt and a nice shiner from the ejector at only 40.6 grains or IMR4831 which was only 2785 FPS. According to GRT (which doesn’t fail me often) that’s 2,550 at 16”

Keep us posted please 🙌🏻

I have a tikka that had a sharp ejector would mark unfired brass and a howa that had a bur on the ejector hole. Easy to confirm buy loading case then moving bolt up and down a bunch but wouldnt explain the heavy bolt unless it was terrible.

Oil in the chamber/one the case can also cause false pressure as the bolt thrust is increased as the case cant stick to the walls. Had this with the old man's rifle after he sprayed wd40 EVERYWHERE on his rifle. Once decreased it was fine.

Might not be them but ideas to rule out.

I thought that it could have been some lube in the chamber. I did what I thought was a good stripping and thought that I solved it but it kinda seems to be back intermittently. I got it really hot the other day and despite stripping it with heavy solvents prior had some smoke that looked and smelled like lube burning off.

I did do another round of heavy solvents the other day after shooting it last but havent been able to test it again. I’d like to get the 116’s going about 100FPS faster before chopping the barrel.

What brake is that?
Have you found any brakes that negate muzzle blast to the shooter better than others? I putting together a 6cm also....dang states that dont allow suppressors :ROFLMAO:

Hodgdon data suggests theres 100fps more from Staball 6.5 or Ramshot Grand. Or obviously could try any one if the others. In the 22 I found some powders just dont show pressure the same. Would atleast rule out an option.

It’s an SRS pro brake. They work awesome at lower recoil and mitigating muzzle blast

Why exactly won't it single feed?

Nose of the bullet just hits the barrel tenon below the chamber. So the mag sits low enough that a bullet sitting on top of the mag isn’t quite aligned with chamber.

But fed out of the mag, it hits the feed ramp which aligns it with the chamber.
