I don’t follow football even remotely close enough to get into the head coach level but Brees was a class act and he deserved another shot at a ring.
Don’t really have to follow that close it was the biggest story when it came out and why Peyton was suspended for a year from coaching. Between the coaches and organization it was the true definition of dirt bags.

Being from south Texas, Montana State offered me a full ride to come play football my senior year of high school. I never even went on a visit. I regret it and know that if I had gone up there it would have changed the whole course of my life. I love SW Montana more than anyplace on earth. I just found it 6 or 7 years after I should have

That last drive by ND could have been the final nail

Getting down 21-3 early certainly didn’t help.

Good game. It was an even 50-50 for me, and probably the only game i will watch for at least a year. As a MSU alum and ND resident, either outcome was fine. It would have been fun to see the Cats make it, but it's also fun to see the Bison dynasty keep going.

Man, msu leaving 4 in the box and leaving the whole field open for Cam to run was inexcusable.

The Lance TD where it was just him and a corner alone in half the field.. knew that wasn’t going to pan out well for the Cats either. Tommy seems like one cool dude. Fun watching him and Cam trade blows. Lance’s catches the last two games are outrageous.

Also, looked like cats fans traveled way heavier to frisco than bison fans. For the first 8 or 9 years it seemed like no opponents got more than about 30% of the stands. Bison fans must be getting bored. What is it, 11 or 12 of the last 14 years they’ve been there?

While there are several things I could point out in the FCS Championship, I think the biggest difference in the game was ND's O line. Cam had a perfect pocket on almost every pass and if he didn't complete a pass, he usually had a route out. On the flip side the Cat's O line, the Cats (other than Tommy) had no run offense and their pass blocking was not nearly as good.

I'll give the Cat's credit for turning the game around from blowout to back in it—that doesn't always happen.

Ya, NDSU clearly won the trenches battle both sides of the ball. I couldn’t tell if MSU’s first half game plan was their typical offense that wasn’t working or if Vigen caught a case of the Ryan Day vs Michigan syndrome that he luckily abandoned the second half. He just kept going back to trying to play sort of a trenches battle Bison style game to show he could and it wasn’t going anywhere.

It was mentioned several times here that this is a weak Bison defense comparatively. The biggest weakness was the secondary; but MSU just kept going between the tackles. There were at least a half dozen plays that would’ve been big ones for MSU in the first half, but an NDSU player was there just a split second sooner and they made great tackles. Maybe those were plays that typically bounced against all other teams.

NDSU has a good core coming back. Highly anticipated NFL prospect Cole Payton will finally be starting at QB. He’s more of a very quick Mellot style QB with a couple extra inches and 25 extra lbs. He’s been the best athlete on the team for years, hopefully we finally get to see more than a few snaps a game next year.

I think you’re spot on. It’s weird to say, but they’re bored with success. I knew a ton of people that went every year the first decade and now maybe 10% of them still go. Next year it moves to Nashville, so that might revive the Bison crowd to travel to the game for a few years (if they make it). The only games that sell are UND, USD, and SDSU. The dome was empty for the first two playoff games and even the SDSU semifinal game had plenty of unclaimed tickets that were snatched by folks in blue. The dome noise was hardly mentioned as home field advantage during that game. It used to get wild in that place in the playoffs.

I saw a wild stat the other day that the PAC 12 still puts on the Rose Bowl and has rights to the game through next year. So OSU and WSU split $50 million this year and $50 million next year. My guess is that they agreed to wait until their paychecks next year and then start building the conference back. Likely will take Mountain West teams and the Dakota and Montana schools will be most obvious to backfill. I think this was the first year it was obvious at NDSU that they need to make it more interesting to sell tickets.
