I’m looking to pick up a new rifle in the next few months and have narrowed down my choices to these three:

Seekins Element Hunter

Sig Cross Sawtooth

Bergara MGlite

Or buying a tikka and putting it in a folder is another option I suppose.

I am also undecided about caliber, leaning towards 6.5 PRC but totally open to suggestions. I would be primarily using this rifle on mule deer.

Any opinions one way or the other would be appreciated.

I have 3 XLRs. 2 on Tikkas and 1 on a Remington. They have worked out great for me. A buddy of mine has the MDT HNT26; that's a great option. His rifle is a 6.5 PRC and I watched him kill a big cow elk with a 156 Berger Elite at just over 500 this past week. I was very impressed by that bullet.

Thought and looked at the Sig Cross for a long time. Pounced when the Element Hunter in 6.5prc 20" was released and love it so far. Have shot it a fair amount and it goes for the elk test in a few days.

FYI, this video may answer some Qs on your end. Similar setups you are looking at. I've watched it a couple of times. Let us know what you end up with.

Thanks for the link I hadn’t seen that video. I’m leaning towards the Element Hunter if I go for a factory gun. It really does check all the boxes.

Savage also now has a 110 Ultralite that’s pretty slick. Has an mdt hnt26 arca folder and a proof carbon barrel and a variety of calibers. You can find them online for about $2800. Friend has one in a 6.5 PRC and it flat out shoots. Bare weight is under 6lbs.

I switched my tikka 270 to a suppressed 25-06 with an xlr chassis. I bought a new tikka 223 and also put it in an xlr chassis. Love both rifles!

This is what my buddy has. It is a sweet rig.

the forend of the mglite is too short imo i'd skip that.. Id say try and get your hands on any of these if there's a match nearby or good gunshop you can check them out on. it's pretty subjective imo.

Sig Cross is pretty slick.
Just rebarrel it to a 16.5" 22 creed for best results

If you’re considering the MgLite, for just a hair more money you could build a custom in an XLR chassis and have a more reliable platform. I’m building a 6.5 PRC in a long action XLR and plan to run Hawkins flush mags with spacers for shorter magnums. 6.5 PRC is a great cartridge, but depending on range you plan to shoot, you could get by with less for deer.

I have 6 chassis rigs and just built myself a new rifle on a manners adjustable folder. The manners is SO much better for my style. It doesn't get cold, nothing gets loose, it's quiet, light and there's only one thing to loosen up on the stock (the cheek piece) and uf it fell off you could still hunt.

I've had parts fall off chassis from rattling around on a quad and they're just awful in the cold.

I just switched to a flush mag system this weekend and it trimmed it up nicely.

I picked up a Sig Sawtooth in 6prc and have been really happy with it. I had then same thoughts of building a Tikka chassis rifle but the wait times were so long for parts that I decided to get a factory folder. I haven’t found any problems or dislikes with this rifle and killed an elk and mule deer with it last month. Sure is nice to fold it up and put it inside the pack. It takes so much hassle out of packing a rifle. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it…
