Hey all. New guy here from southern NY. Just trying to soak up as much information as I possibly can as a new whitetail hunter. Went on 2 hunts so far, first time didn’t see a thing. Second time I shot at a deer with iron sites at 90 yards or so and missed. I hit a small branch (got to see the snow fly off it).

But I’m hooked now after about 6 whole days of my life spent in the field, and I’ve had a great time so far. Not just hunting but all the things that go along with it, hanging with friends and being outdoors.

Hoping to learn more about still hunting on public land, since that will be what most of my opportunities will allow next season. I have a couple people in my life who are guiding me along, hopefully they’ll stick with me while I learn and I can take my first deer later this year.
