Howdy all. Long time lurker, finally joined to contribute where I can and glean knowledge from the collective. I am the proverbial gun guy and I have been many decades. I've been a bird hunter since college, but finally admitted that I'm lazy and fair weathered; dove and quail for me as it's too cold for duck. I've played a little with LR stuff and identified the deep, deep hole that can bring. I really enjoyed learning a lot from the classes, training and friends that I made.
I really enjoy hog hunting. Not sure why it fires me up so much, but just about drop everything to go hunt pigs. I'm looking forward to my first elk hunt in December in NM with some good friends and I'm certain it will be an enjoyable experience. Based on hours of reading and study here (and other places), I assembled what I think will be a good "do everything" gun for that hunt and beyond; Bergara Wilderness Sierra in 300 WM, topped with an NXS 2.5-10 and sporting Dead Air Sandman S. It's my first magnum, and yeah, I've read everything about magnums and drawbacks. I'll get acquainted with it, and if I don't like it, I'll assemble another one in .30-06.
