Flying with pistol

Flew to Alaska with pistol checked in suitcase. We have a layover in Seattle but my suitcase can't be found. Luggage lady from airline says no worry it will be here before you leave in the morning. I mention to luggage lady that a firearm is in the suitcase. She's immediately on the phone and within 10 minutes my suitcase was found.

You’re checking other luggage I assume? If so, yes, you can put it in there.

I take a pistol wherever I go. Once it’s in a hard case and locked, it goes in my checked baggage.
