Random question. Just curious if anyone has flown using their Exo 3500 as a cary on? Specifically with Alaska airlines. I want to use mine as my cary on but it may be an inch or two over their guidelines online. Just curious if I still might be able to get away with it. Thanks y'all!

I have flown with it several times as carry on. Never stuffed to the gills or you wont be able to get it into the overhead bin. Not sure if I have flown with it on alaskan or not but most airlines are about the same. I have never had anyone bust out the tape measure to make sure I was in compliance. You want to put soft / flexible things in there so that it can conform and contort to the overhead space and you should be fine.

I have flown with the EXO 5500 many times and have never had a problem even with its stuffed pretty good

I've air travelled all over North America with my 26" Kifaru frame with no issues. DT1, Mountain Warrior, Mountain Rambler, Argali etc...just keep them compressed and an internal frame pack will be fine.

Yeah, I've seen people board planes with huge backpacking packs, way over the carry-on regs. Just keep in mind that if it doesn't fit in the overhead, they will have to check it so keep anything really valuable or breakable in your "personal" item.

A mate carried his on some flights with Emirates and Fly Dubai recently. He got it through but I reckon it was borderline - he had it packed pretty slim but it only takes the wrong attendant and you could be screwed. I had a smaller pack stuffed to the gills with more weight than the Exo 3500 and it was less obvious.
