Well this trip has been nothing but epic to say the least. I've never experienced anything quite like it. And to top it off actually punching a turkey tag on my first trip to Colorado?? Speachless. We camped around 9000 feet, and did have a little snowpack issue. 9000 feet seemed to be the cutoff for snowpack. Where we parked the truck at around 7000 feet things were really greening up. We sat glassing hillsides in the evenings and saw a few deer and one elk wading in a runoff "pond". Saw a big elk herd and 2 sheep driving along 70. Turkey action happened in lower and greener elevations. Absolutely breathtaking views everywhere. I learned so much about my gear, elevation, terrain, actually being able to see with my eyes what I've been looking at from satellite images for months, and so much more. Flying back home tomorrow. I'll be back in September and hopefully go 2 for 2 on punching tags!
